Portugal now has one of the best incentive schemes in Europe funded by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA) with a cash rebate of up to 30%.
- Minimum expenditure in Portugal is €500.000 (fiction and animation) / €250.000 (documentaries and post-production);
- Between 25% and 30% of eligible expenditure, depending on a Culture Test and the characteristics of the project. Weighting factors include: high economic impact in Portugal, expenses made in low density territories, hiring actors/technicians with disabilities;
- Upfront payments in installments;
- Maximum incentive allocated per project is €4m;
Our last film project for Netflix, ‘Damsel’, used Portugal for all its exterior locations.
Previously in Portugal, we have also worked on 2nd Unit work for ‘The Little Mermaid’ for Disney and VFX 2nd Unit work for ‘Suicide Squad 2’ and ‘Aquaman II’ for Warner Bros.
